Well I hope you finish the week on a high note. Better than the President's beer bust. And look forward to a happy weekend enjoying some outdoor sports. Hoist a few when you get a chance. But be sure to make it a good one!

Disney Profits Down 26%

We don't like the sound of this, not here in Florida. If the Mouse isn't doing well then it's a safe bet the tourism industry isn't doing well either. People who vacation at Disney also visit our beaches and parks which is only an hour a way. Over by me where Zoey and I live.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Citing a global economic slump, the Walt Disney Co. said on Thursday that its third-quarter profit fell 26 percent from the quarter a year ago.
Net income in the three months ended June 27 was $954 million, or 51 cents a share, down from $1.28 billion, or 66 cents a share, in the period a year ago.

False Arrest

I read everything I could read on the internet and in our local newspaper and then watched some talking heads on TV and came to the conclusion that this incident was a False Arrest by Officer James Crowley. The fact that drew me across the line was that "yelling" from the front porch at a police officer, as reported by the police officer in his charge report, is not against the law in Massachusetts. Yelling from one's own porch, I may add. Why so many people are split on this issue may or may not be racial. Below is a good article on the bad apples on the police force. Again, I took THAT into consideration having had one bad incident myself of police accosting me at my home for no reason. They simply went to the wrong address. I'm not taking sides, both men acted with swelled egos. But the police officer, realizing it was NOT a break in, that the professor owned the house, should have walked away. Z&Me

Demands Apology
by Tom Harper

Here’s an interesting headline on Yahoo! News: “Massachusetts Police Union Demands an Apology.” I haven’t clicked on the article yet, but I know exactly what they’re talking about.

The vast majority of police officers are honest, hardworking and courageous. And their courage and professionalism are INSULTED every time a corrupt trigger-happy cop breaks the law and abuses his authority. I’m glad the Police Union is addressing this issue. They don’t deserve to be degraded and insulted by the few bad apples in their profession.

Here’s a recap of just a few of the crooked retarded goons who have smeared and insulted the reputation of law enforcement officers everywhere:

Rodney King, four LAPD officers, 56 times in 81 seconds, you know the drill.

In 1997, a Haitian immigrant was arrested by Brooklyn cops, taken to the police station and had a broken plunger rammed up his ass repeatedly. After that, the cops found out they had arrested the wrong person — mistaken identity. OOPS, our bad.

In 1999, four New York City Police officers shot and killed Amadou Diallo, an immigrant from Guinea. The four officers, all in street clothes, opened fire and shot Diallo 41 times. They claimed they thought he had a gun.

A few months ago, a Dallas police officer stopped a motorist — for rolling through a red light — who was driving his wife to the hospital to visit her dying mother. Even after the man and his wife explained their situation and begged him to let them continue on to the hospital, the officer pulled his gun on them and slo-o-o-o-o-oly wrote out their traffic ticket. The woman’s mother died before they could get in to visit her, thanks to Officer Friendly.

The above-mentioned shitwipes have certainly tarnished the reputations of millions of honest law enforcement officers.

Sunday Morning

Faith is a state of openness or trust.
To have faith is to trust yourself to the water.
When you swim you don't grab hold of the water,
because if you do you will sink and drown.
Instead you relax, and float.
And the attitude of faith
is the very opposite of clinging to belief,
of holding on.
In other words,
a person who is fanatic in matters of religion,
and clings to certain ideas about the nature of God
and the universe,
becomes a person who has no faith at all.
Instead they are holding tight.
But the attitude of faith is to let go,
and become open to truth,
whatever it might turn out to be.

Sarah, We Hardly Knew Ye . . .

Last year's Republican vice presidential nominee remains a deeply polarizing figure, and there are warning signs for her as she emerges as a possible contender for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination. While she is still widely popular among those in her party, she has lost ground among Republicans generally and among the white evangelicals who are so critical in the early presidential primaries.

Overall, the new poll found that 53 percent of Americans view Palin negatively and 40 percent see her in positive terms, her lowest level in Post-ABC polling since she first appeared on the national stage last summer as Sen. John McCain's running mate.

The dip in Palin's favorability comes as she gets ready to leave office Sunday with about 18 months remaining in her term and plans to turn her attention to national politics. Palin, 45, has said she intends to campaign for other like-minded candidates, and speculation has been rampant that she may seek the GOP nomination to oppose President Obama.
