He Has a Good Point!
Voices Heard in 2009
"If an underwear bomb means we're not safe under Obama, does a shoe bomb mean Bush didn't really keep us safe after 9/11"?

Pigs on Wall Street
More Voices from 2009
Stagnating worker wages and the emergence of a new monied aristocracy. Of all the income growth of the entire country of the United States in the Bush years, the richest 1 percent of the working population, about 1.3 million persons, grabbed up over two-thirds of it. The Reagan and Bush cuts in tax rates on the wealthy have created a dangerous little alien inside our supposedly democratic society, of the super-rich, with their legions of camp followers. The new lords and ladies don't want a public universal health option, did not want the wars abroad to end abruptly, did not want the Copenhagen Climate convention to succeed. They are driven by pure greed and narrow profit-seeking for themselves.
And when their high risk hedge fund investments collapse, they line their pockets with your money from the U.S. Treasury in the form of a bailout. These greedy bastards never miss paying themselves a big, fat yearly bonus with your money!
TEN WORST NIGHTMARES
Dance, Dance, Dance
Yes, you can dance in the New Year and keep dancing throughout the year. It's good exercise and whatever you do to keep your heart healthy, exercise it daily. I bet there will be dancing tonight as we all say goodbye to 2009.
Getting All Dolled Up for the Big Night
I really loved how women dressed up back then. I remember my Mother dressing up like this for New Years Eve. All the women who came to our house on New Year's Eve looked rather gorgeous in their gowns and cocktail outfits. Oh those wonderful 50's years! Well . . . this photo looks a little older than that but nice, very, very nice. Have a Happy New Year!

Voices Heard This Past Year 2009
"Our real enemy is not the ones living in a distant land whose names or policies we don't understand; The real enemy is a system that wages war when it's profitable, the CEOs who lay us off our jobs when it's profitable, the Insurance Companies who deny us Health care when it's profitable, the Banks who take away our homes when it's profitable. Our enemies are not five thousand miles away. They are right here in front of us". --Michael Prysner

Three Days and Counting . . .
Almost time to say "goodbye" or good riddance to 2009. Put your plans together as this is a big year we're moving into. The first decade is gone. Having managed to screw those years up for those who live in the U.S. 2010 will give us all a fresh start. Let's put people back to work and sell some property! Have a good one!
Old Posters Were So Soooo Exciting
You wanted to see the movie but you also wanted the poster as well. This one I don't recall but have seen so many in my time that it does ring a few bells. Mickey Spillane was hot.

Home for the Holidays
I always love these train pictures. This one definitely reminds me of heading home for the holidays. Old number 346 "comin around the bend". YaY!
Well, It's Off to Work We Go . . .

We won't look like this in a week or so when we move into a New Year . . . 2010. In fact, with all the great car deals out there, we might all be driving new Fords or Chevys by then. But it looks like these farm girls are making their way to the bus stop post haste. It's early and in the south, obviously no snow, and they seem to be keeping in step just like a military march. I'd feel bad for people who have to return to work today but I have to work too so for those of you lucky dogs who get to stay out another week, enjoy your holiday. We'll be thinking about how lucky you are. Or . . . maybe we won't. Who knows?

Sunday Morning

When Earth's last picture is painted and the tubes are twisted and dried,
When the oldest colours have faded, and the youngest critic has died,
We shall rest, and, faith, we shall need it -- lie down for an aeon or two,
Till the Master of All Good Workmen shall put us to work anew.
And those that were good shall be happy; they shall sit in a golden chair;
They shall splash at a ten-league canvas with brushes of comets' hair.
They shall find real saints to draw from -- Magdalene, Peter, and Paul;
They shall work for an age at a sitting and never be tired at all!
And only The Master shall praise us, and only The Master shall blame;
And no one shall work for money, and no one shall work for fame,
But each for the joy of the working, and each, in his separate star,
Shall draw the Thing as he sees It for the God of Things as They are!

O-Merry-ca
Unlike the House, the Senate measure omits a government-run insurance option, which liberals favored to apply pressure on private insurers but Democratic moderates opposed as an unwarranted federal intrusion. In an interview with PBS, Obama signaled he will sign a bill even if it lacks the provision.

Twelve Drummers Drumming

Well rat-a-tat-tat. Now we know the "true love" got one huge party for her Christmas present, you can see how happy she is in the painting above. My, my. The twelve drummers join the 11 bagpipe pipers piping, and walla, Christmas music everyone can dance to. The maids, the dancing girls, what a party. I bet the real present she gets to keep is the Patridge in a Pear Tree. Seems like the song always comes back to that present every time you sing it. It's only appropriate after the damage all these folks have done to her house, not to mention the Geese, all the bird droppings, feeding all these people. I can only hope they all have a MERRY CHRISTMAS!
A White Christmas

You lucky dogs . . . in much of the country this year nature has given our American family a White Christmas. Not here in Florida but in the Northeast, Midwest and Northwest travel conditions are horrendous for getting home today for the holidays. Snow, snow, snow is all that's in the forecast. So for our fellow travelers, safe trip home for Christmas and enjoy the white stuff this year for it's not often we get a White Christmas.
